Bee Our Community this Valentine's weekend!
We can think of no better way to spend a weekend focused on Love than beeing in Community... especially when this fun event includes:
- a plant and seed swap
- wild food demonstration
- delicious spice blends from Sky Island Spice Company
- Kira's beautiful jewelry

Sunday, February 15th, Open Studio & Garden 11am-1pm
Let's gather together at the Casa Kira studio space where we will enjoy a demonstration on how to harvest, prepare, cook and (safely) eat nopal cactus! Guests will be able to take home a plenty of nearly thornless variety of prickly pear pads. Start your own nopal garden, or simply eat them at home later. ( they are also a favorite tortoise food for those who are caretakers.)
--- please RSVP so we know how many to prepare. And if you'd like to take any home, please also bring a container so we can keep this an eco friendly event.
In addition to the nopal(s), you are welcome to bring your extra plants or seeds to share with others for our **Free Plant & Seed Swap!** -- bring a plant/some seeds and take some plants/seeds
--- and to ensure you have all the plant knowledge you'll need, GreenBee Hive experts will be onsite to answer your garden related questions.
You will also be able to tour Casa Kira's Sonoran desert tortoise enclosure built in accordance with the Sonoran Desert Museum's specifications and planted with native edible tortoise food. Kira will be on hand to answer questions about Sonoran desert tortoise enclosures, how you can properly build one, plant edibles for the tortoise, and apply to adopt one of the many desert tortoises that need homes.
We will also have some things for sale during this event:
