            They are suitable for in-doors or out-doors. Hang in the garden, porch, at the front door, patio, in the kitchen, over the bed... The possibilities are endless.
            This beautiful chime features my signature handmade earthenware focal beads, crafted by me in my native home of Arizona. I then incorporate these elements with other items that remind me of my beloved Sonoran desert such as milagros, glass, wood and rudraska beads, and other natural materials. They are strung on a gorgeous CHOLLA SKELETON*, and finished with bells of Lal, which will become even more beautiful with age as they oxidize.

            *When a cholla cactus dies, the flesh of the cactus decomposes and it leaves behind a beautiful wood skeleton. (No Thorns)

            The cholla cactus is scorned by those who don’t know any better. It has a vicious reputation for actually “jumping” out and attaching it’s self with its hooked thorns to whoever happens by, but those of us who know it well, love it for its beauty and function. It is an integral piece of the Sonoran Desert providing safety from predators for small desert animals and nutrition for animals and humans alike. Its buds were once a vital piece of the Tohono Oodham and Papago diet. The women who taught me how to harvest and prepare cholla buds for eating also taught me how to pray to the seven directions and make my own offering before harvesting.
